Celia Aaron had me captivated from page one with Lucretia and Mateo's story. I could not stop reading this book and begged for more.
Mateo's story is long and sad. The years of not knowing the who, what, when, where and why to a lot of things made him the person he was. He loved his family and loved them hard but there were things going on in the midst that he would have never imagined.
The vengeance that he once had ingrained in every cell of his body slowly changed when meeting Lucretia. He wanted her and the family to suffer but his true feelings made a scene and he wouldn't and couldn't follow through with his plot.
Things slowly begin to happen and he his began opening. Once the truth was revealed, there was nothing he wouldn't go to protect Lucretia from everything, including herself.
This story was filled with surprise and kept me on my toes!
