Carter Lenox has two regrets-hesitating on a mission in Afghanistan with disastrous consequences and pushing away Delaney Walker. When he gets word the love of his life is in trouble and she needs him more than ever, the decision to go home is an easy one.
Delaney Walker has loved Carter since they were children. She's waited for him between missions hoping he'd eventually open his heart and they could be together. But when she suffers a devastating loss, one she must keep a secret, Delaney decides it's time to stop waiting for her SEAL and move on.
With the threat closing in, Delaney has no choice but to turn to Carter. If she can find the courage to trust Carter's promises and share her secret, their future will be full of the life and love they've always wanted. If not, Delaney may not only lose her first love but her life.
Review:
I was so excited to listen to Carter and Delaney’s
story. Delaney is this strong independent
person who knew what she wanted but also settled for what she could get. Carter was the one for her and not only did
she know it but he did as well. He just couldn't commit.
Carter has known Delaney since they were children and he
adored her. He loved her through it all
and their families loved each other but his head wasn’t on straight. In his
mind he wasn’t good enough for her but he wanted to give her what he could at
the times he could. He was in the military
and was never home. He couldn’t give her what she wanted but did he truly want
to?
The push and pull between these two characters was heartbreaking. Loss was suffered but learning the truth was devastating. Carrying a secret that destroyed you only to
know you had someone who would have done anything for you made this story better
but also sadder. Delaney and Carter have
a road to travel that wasn’t going to be easy. The danger lurking in the mist proves
what is meant to be.
Troy Duran and Devon Grace did a fantastic job bringing Carter and Delaney to life. I can’t wait for
the next story in this series!
