REVIEW:

I'm torn with But First, Coffee.  There were time in the book that I couldn't get a true feel of the characters and I lost interest.  I'm not sure if it was the attitude of Joe or how I felt more interested in getting to know Doug more.  What does he want and why does he seems mean but then you are made to feel sorry for him.

Lana the owner and barely comes in the coffee shop but after hearing about Joe decides to change that and make appearances. She seems to move things quickly with Joe and his non experience in a lot of things leave her motives questionable. I couldn't get a read on her and that left me wanting more and getting to know more about her.  What does she want, why did she open up so quickly with Joe and is this someone who can grow to be more.

I wanted to love Joe more but I was a little sad for him.  He carried all the things that was done to him in an unusual way and brought the different things out at time that didn't warrant nor need them.  My heart broke for him with all the things he went through from the rape.  Clearly there are things that he is holding onto and it has shaped him into the person he is.

I would have like to see the characters grow a little more and also get to know them better or things about them.
