The queen of dark has killed it again! Pepper Winters has delved deep into the world of the debt inheritance once more in Second Debt, the third book in this six part series. We encounter a different part to the world and workings of Nila Weaver and Jethro Hawk. A more humane and real side to our tormenter Jet is shown and I loved it. I feel in love with Jet in this book.. hard! I was slowly, slowly falling in the previous books in this series but this one pushed me straight over the edge, straight into love with our hero.


Jet and Nila to me had very different roles in this book compared to the others. Nila wasn't the fragile weak girl she was in the first two. She was fiery, passionate, strong, determined.. But most of all she wasn't willing to back down, even finding out the secrets Jet had kept from her. Her relationship with Jet in this book completely evolved. The two of them were so sexy and passionate together. I loved how she was with him in this book. She was determined to make him let her in. She wanted to see into the soul of Jet just as much as he wanted her to see him.


Jet was kind of all over in this book. He was hot, cold. Loving and scared but one thing never wavered, his passion to protect Nila. I felt like this book gave us the side to Jet we were missing from Jet in the two previous books. Jet was real for me in this book. He didn't hide behind the Hawk name and the darkness he thought he should inevitably feel. He showed Nila who he truly was, and he showed her he could love her and take her love in return.


Of course the second debt was paid, and holy Crap was it intense. When Pepper Winters writes, it's bound to be intense and angsty, beautiful and raw as hell. But that's what makes this authors writing so unique and so amazing to read. I will drop everything I'm doing when Pepper publishes a book. I adore her writing, her stories and the soul she puts into her work.. 

Second Debt was all that and more...


But beware... The cliffhanger.
Oh the cliffhanger. It leaves you reeling and begging for more.

Just thinking of Jethro sent a spasm of desire through my core.
Dammit, what’s happening to me?
A daydream of Jethro slamming to his knees before me and wrenching my legs wide stole my mind. It was so vivid, so real—a trickle of need ran down my inner thigh. I gasped as I imagined his tongue lapping at my clit, his long fingers disappearing inside me—the same finger that I’d tattooed with my name.
Would I come harder knowing he touched me with a finger branded by me? Or would I hold on as tight as I could and make him work for it?

I needed to get rid of this satanic desire. I needed to be free.
