Former SEAL Luke Marcou knows a thing or two about life-changing events. Part of a two-man sniper team, his career ended with a bang. Literally—a hail of fire and debris stole his perfect vision, leaving him broken and damaged. After months of feeling sorry for himself and struggling to find his place in the civilian world, he’s made his home at Triple Canopy.
Those who can’t do teach, right? Cue the beautiful Shiloh Kent with her pastel blue eyes and wicked sense of humor. She’s looking to master her long-distance shooting skills—lucky for Shiloh, that’s one of Luke’s many specialties. Neither wants forever, but no one said they couldn’t have a little fun. That is until their hearts get intertwined. And suddenly, tangled morning-after sheets aren’t the only messy thing in their relationship. But forever might not be an option when the tables turn on Shiloh, and she finds herself in the hands of a killer.
Review:
Shiloh and Luke’s story is another fantastic story by Riley Edwards. The growth, sadness and happiness made Shiloh more than a shero in my book! Connor Crais and McKenzie Cartwright really made us love these characters. McKenzie was able to make you empathize with Shiloh but cheer her on as she grew.
Shiloh’s life was great. She didn’t have a lot of things others did and a mom and dad that loved and cared for her. She worked hard to make sure she was the best she could be, and her brothers made sure each of them was on the right path. She blamed herself for something that happened on a call and felt that some things needed to happen in order for healing to take place but will this destroy her?
Luke was a master at getting his way into someone’s life and staying there. He knew what he wanted out of Shiloh and there was nothing that was going to stop him. He knew what she needed and made sure she knew he was the one to give it to her and would protect her heart and soul at all costs. Luke knew Shiloh was his present and future. He knew he had to work through a lot of things with her and he was all in.
I loved the dynamic between Shiloh and Luke. The attraction, love, pride and so many others things made their story one of my favorites. We knew Luke was all in even when he was pushed away. I loved the fight he had and the fight that never gave up.
