First off, Vi Keeland is a favorite of mine. I remember years ago looking at her books and being scared to take a leap of faith and try a new author and now years later, I'm so glad I did! She always seems to manage to hold my attention.
Her latest release The Rivals was absolutely no different! I couldn't put it down once I started. I really enjoyed that Sophia and Weston's first interactions happened on the first pages of this story and we didn't have to wait for the banter to begin!
Sophia and Weston have this deep run history that starts well before them, and with them when they were teenagers at the same time. Those past interactions made this book so much more! Weston knew FiFi from the start and could read her well.
The banter, tension and interaction between these two characters was steamy, sexy and sweet all at the same time. Weston Lockwood you guys.... Sigh. I love that man. He had deep seeded issues but he was still sexy as sin!
Vi Keeland always writes stellar stories that captivate from page one! I can't wait to see what she brings us to the table next. Maybe a sequel? Who knows!

I am a huge fan of Vi Keelands but I couldn't connect with Sophia and Weston's story as much as I would have wanted.
The banter between Sophia and Weston was a joy to watch but not convincing to make me feel there was a rivalry between them. I needed more of there story to understand how things started. I loved Weston. There was something about him that pulled me into concentrating on him and Sophia in the background. There was a lot of growing up to do for her and that made me disconnect with her character.
I felt the tension from Weston. He had a lot of underlying things that made me cheer for him. I wanted the "win" for him. I wanted the happy ending for him and him alone.
