From New York Times bestselling author Penelope
Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up
Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to
forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.
Then again, anything sounds like a good idea
when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be
just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading
thirteen years of pent-up emotions.
I didn’t think he’d call me back.
I certainly could never have anticipated the
weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the
man he’d become.
Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten
me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him,
but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own
secrets.
Over the countless hours we talked on the
phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I
did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked
a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring
two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.
A complete STANDALONE.
Review:
There are authors who you don't have to wonder if the new release will be a hit or if it can stand against the others books written. Author Penelope Ward is a fantastic author who knows how to pull you into a book whether pulling you in at the first page or grabbing you by the 10th page.
Rana and Landon grew up in two different worlds. Landon was privileged and his family was able to support and take care of him but Rana's life was hard. Her father rented to "garage" where Landon and his family lived. Lana and her parents were not conventional and things were planned but didn't work out.
What happens when the one person who you thought was a friend and could have helped and protected you didn't...well you get older, think about him and of course...Drunk Dial.
The dynamic between Landon and Rana picked up where they left off but with some issues. It wasn't easy to think of someone all the time and fantasize about them but life threw a really bad curve ball that changed your life.
Rana had a hard life that made me sad for her but also made me happy because she was strong willed and determined. Landon was also strong willed and needed to find something that he missed as a child. The end result for both of them was different but also good!!
This story will grab you by page three and will continue to pull you in and make you want more. I enjoyed reading Landon and Rana's story!!
