4.5 Star Review ~ Midnight Revenge (Killer Instincts #7) by Elle Kennedy

From the USA Today bestselling author of Midnight Captive, the latest Killer Instincts novel is “off-the-charts-hot”* romantic suspense that takes readers into the heart of an enigmatic mercenary...

Out of all the stone-cold mercenaries in Jim Morgan's black ops organization, Derek “D” Pratt is the most intimidating. He is tight-lipped and covered in tattoos, and even the other guys on his team are afraid to ask him about his past. D’s been off the grid for years, but after his teammate Sullivan is mistakenly captured in his place, D is forced to come out of hiding and face his demons.

When D lands in Mexico, he’s ready to risk everything to save his friend. To complicate matters, Sofia Amaro, a feisty doctor whom D had a one-night stand with months ago, has tracked him down. And in an instant she’s unintentionally caught up in his life-threatening rescue mission.

Now D must extract not one but two people from the most violent world he's ever encountered. And one of them is carrying his child.

Review:

I have to say I was very intrigued by this book. I recommend reading books 1-6 so you'll will understand all of the character and know their story's so I am now reading those books.

Derek or "D" and most call him and Sofia were just acquaintances.  She is the doctor chosen to take care of the men if they are hurt on a mission.  Little did they know things were about to take a change for the worse/better!!

D was on edge because his friend was taken captive instead of him and him was slowly breaking him.  It seemed his exterior was always hard but somewhere deep down, he truly hurt and because of his past had no way to let it out.  He needed to get Sully back not just for him but his team.  This family that D always said was not just that was his life and sole and I wanted to see the moment when that finally opened his eyes.

Sofia wasn't a push over and said what she wanted when she wanted but she also longed for people in her life. The hand she was dealt as a child was rough and she found that in D but it took a miracle and really it was just that to keep them together and safe.

This story pulled me in right away. I hated D for a long time for his arrogance but I finally saw why he did the things he did and it broke my heart.  I wanted so much more for him and hoped that the HEA that he deserves was worth the fight he did for his entire life.  This was a favorite read and I'm excited to read the other books and keep reading this series!! The other character are clearly boggling my mind and there are a lot of unanswered questions that I have!!
