Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Nikki Narvaez just gave us the best ending to two people who have been through hell and back.
Kaiya is the definition of survivor. Although life picked her to battle the worse cases that anyone could handle, with help she did it. Trust was an issue that she had to deal with but with the right people in her corner, she could overcome in obstacle. We left off in book one with the demise of her brother Kaleb. We learned that Kaleb was obsessed with Kaiya and thought she was his. Although he was sent away to try and get treatment, it didn't help. Kaleb was different but when she looked in the mirror, the only thing she saw was her twin. Kamden was her older brother who was also her rock. He never broke her but made her stonger. In this book, we find that even the strong can break and often do when faced with something that could haunt them for life.
Ryker is the boyfriend who saved Kaiya and Kamden in many ways. He truly cares about her but he also has demons of his own to work through and still there's always doubt in his mind about his relationship with Kaiya, himself and why he's not someone that anyone can love. Put these demons together and WOW!!
Mending Scars is an excellent title for this book!! Each of these characters are covered with them on many different levels. Kaiya and Kamden with family issues that range from a crazy brother, awful mother and non existent dad. Ryker also has family issues but ranges with a brother who hurt him on many levels.
Will the love that each of them have for each other be able to get them through all of the problems that they will be facing? You must read this book to find out!! I hope Kamden can get a book so we can get inside his head!!
