Melissa has had a rough year and needs a break from her life. She and her best friend, Elaine decide a spa retreat in the Arizona desert will help Melissa to regroup and move on from her previous life. On the first night while having a drink alone in the resort's bar, she meets Derek and there is an instant attraction, despite the fact that he is not her usual type. He wants her and she decides a one night stand is what she needs.
After the best sex of her life, they make a mutual agreement to carry on a steamy sex affair for the remainder of the week. Each encounter is filled with passion and their chemistry is undeniable. Melissa can't help but fall in love with Derek. At the same time, her friend Elaine falls for Derek's friend and business partner Patrick. When the week comes to an end, they go back to their previous lives.
Although Elaine and Patrick exchange contact information, Melissa and Derek do not. Melissa knows she needs to deal with an issue from her previous life before she can move on and possibly pursue anything with Derek. Upon dealing with the issue, she discovers information about Derek that changes everything.
This was my first Tia Louise book. For a debut novel, I thought it was well written and I loved the characters. Although it is a standalone, I was excited to see it is now part of a series. I look forward to reading the next book, One to Keep, about Elaine and Patrick.
