Synopsis:
Travis King is the worst kind of asshole.
He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards.
He’s cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes.
And I hate him.
It wouldn’t matter so much if he were avoidable.
But considering he’s my older brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I’d ever want to.
His sculpted abs and gorgeous eyes are wasted on such an arrogant man, which makes me hate him even more.
Even though I’ve had a crush on him since I was ten, the feelings weren’t mutual and he’s always made that very clear.
He’s always loved getting under my skin and one night against my better judgment, I let him in my bed.
I’ve succumbed to his manwhore ways, but that doesn’t change a thing.
Because the King is about to get played at his own game—and lose.
Checkmate.
Review:
Viola and Travis hated each other, or so Viola thought. I mean when you hear something and don't understand the reasons why, you head and heart gradually breaks. Viola and her brother were never "tight" as children. She was the young sister who was aggravating and didn't have any friends so of course she was always around.
The fighting between the two sparks a fire in both of them and the burn intensifies the more they spend time together. Viola shows her jealously in all the jokes she plays but it only intensifies their feelings. It draws a line that Travis doesn't want to cross but once he does, it's GAME ON!
There were so parts of the book that made you loathe Travis. The way he treated Viola was harsh but in his mind it was needed for his friendship and his well being. I mean this was his little sister right? I loved his tenacity at work but did he do the right thing? Will things being done in the dark soon come out to light?
Kudos to Lia Langola for bringing these characters to life!
