Excerpt: Debt Inheritance:  Meet Jethro & Nila

ONE - Nina's POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO - Jethro's POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

**5 DARK STARS**

To be drawn into the dark world of Pepper Winters is such an incredible experience. She writes dark, tells dark, and does dark so well, and Indebted #1 was no different. 

Indebted follows the Weavers and Hawks. And a time old debt that can never be repaid. Nila Weaver is thrust into the darkness of the Hawks. She is the next woman in a line of Weavers to have to be sacrificed to pay of her families debt to the Hawk family.

Nila meets the illusive and intriguing Jethro Hawk. Jethro is anything but safe. He's dark, mysterious and Nila's father is thrusting her into his life, but unsuspecting Nila has no idea why! Thus begins Nila's decent into scary and dangerous world of the Diamond Brotherhood. Nila doesn't realize the danger she is in until Jethro shows his true colors. 

The way Pepper Winters tells a story is incredible. From her words that just flow across the page so flawlessly to her magnetism on the dark matters of love. I love the way she can tell a story but most of all I love that when reading her books, from her way with words, you get an old time feel for her writing. She doesn't skip on the details of something happening in the story. She isn't scared to write about something that someone else may find taboo. 

She held me from the first page in Indebted. I was waiting the percentages on my kindle fly by, I felt like the book went by too soon but that is the way someone feels when they have a Pepper Winters work in front of you! I must say this story took a turn I wasn't expecting. I was expecting to fall in love with Jethro and his dark ways just from the short story I read. He was dark and calculated I could FEEL that there was something else to Jethro Hawk and I clung to that through the story, I clung to it like my life depended on it because I wanted to believe the good in Jet. I wanted him to save Nila instead of want to destroy her.

Pepper Winters left us hanging and hanging hard with the ending of Indebted. I was so nervous for the book to end.. I knew Pepper would leave me with questions and a major book hangover. Indebted was a 5 star read that leaves you hanging and wanting more! I can't wait for First Debt. I need more Jet & Nila and I really really need them to have a Happily Ever After.
