Schizoaffective disorder: a mental illness in which a person experiences a combination of mood disorder and schizophrenia symptoms.
I know about this illness—very well—because I suffer from it. It’s been four years since my diagnosis, and ever since, I’ve been living in a dark hole. Voices constantly invading my thoughts. Hallucinations. All of which force me to question if what I’m experiencing is even reality.
But here I am, still hanging on, still breathing and living through it.
That is, until he stumbled into my life. Logan Reed. I don’t want any part of him. I’ve pushed him away, but he isn’t easily deterred. I’ve told him I’m different, but he doesn’t care. He’s trying to slowly break me down. I’m trying just as hard not to let him. He doesn’t know how truly damaged I am; what will happen when he does?
I know the truth—he’ll never be able to look at me the same way again. Just like everybody else.
5 STAR REVIEW!!
When I picked up my e-reader and I saw Perfectly Damaged on it, I didn't know exactly what to expect. I knew I was excited about this book. I was scared to read it and I was looking forward to it for sure. What I got, well let's just say was definitely a 5 star read.
Perfectly Damaged was incredible. I have never and I mean never read a book like it. The subject matter for the book was something I have never seen another author touch on and I loved that. It was a different book than all the usual fluff we see. It was a beautiful love story but a broken love story at that.
Logan, our hero. Oh man.. He was something else, but so amazing. He supported our heroine first through friendship and then through love but he never gave up and that was something and began to respect from our hero.
Jenna, our heroine is so beautiful, but so broken. She has her demons because of her illness that she battles daily. She has her demons she has to fight as well though because of tragedy that has rocked her life. With Logan, she slowly lets her walls crumble even though she believes its the wrong idea to let someone into her life again.
After the hell that Jenna went through, Logan begins to heal her and make her feel whole again. He becomes her support because the people Jenna have around her aren't very helpful and supportive of her and her illness.
E.L. Montes tells a beautiful, heroic story of a young woman with a mental illness that should deter her from her lack of help from others, but instead from the help of one man, makes her flourish and come out of her shell. She tells a story of love, though it may be broken, it's perfect. It's strong and unbreakable and so very real. I loved this amazing authors writing in telling this story. She took me on a ride that I wasn't expecting and definitely a ride that I won't forget.
5 stars for Perfectly Damaged.
