Synopsis

Twenty-one-year-old Sophia Ross has lived under the pressure of her parents expectations since the tragic accident that shattered their once perfect family. Determined to start over where no one knows her, she answers a housing ad on Craigslist and takes a job at a little bar in a town she has never heard of. All Sophia's looking for is a place to escape, somewhere she can hide behind her lies and keep herself distracted.

She just didn’t expect to be distracted by Corbin Kasey.

Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Kasey is stuck in his hometown, his job, and his life, spending more time covering for his Dad’s problems than trying to fix his own. To take his mind off everything he has the wild Kayla, his stable roommates, and the calmness of swimming in Mills Lake. He always thought it was enough to keep him from drowning in himself, until he meets Sophia.

Neither of them are prepared for their lies to be stripped away by a single kiss. But for Corbin and Sophia, the truth has consequences.

4.5 STAR REVIEW!
The Truth About Us was a surprise and nothing that I was expecting. Sophia and Corbin had pasts that would definitely change the courses of each of their lives. TJ Hannah did an excellent job bringing these two characters together. I pulled for them the entire book and I especially pulled for Sophia. She has more power over her “crew” than she expected and it made her a better person.

Sophia ran away from home but not as a teenager, as an adult. She was being smothered by her parents and she was trying to deal with something that happened in her life. In Sophia’s eyes, she needed a new start. She didn’t want to be an attorney; she wanted her own life and not the life that her parents chose for her. When she meets Corbin, he is also dealing with something in the past and dealing with his present that is consuming him.

Corbin has been the protector of everyone in his life. He has protected his family when each of them had no idea that it was being done. His struggles made him an unhappy person and also made him make wrong decisions in life; well until he met Sophia. She was a challenge for him and he saw the things in her that he was feeling for himself. He didn’t know what it was but he knew it was something that affected her deeply.

“What’s your secret, sweet Sophia?” he asks with that half-joking smile, and I suck in a quick breath.
“Which one?” I try to match his playful expression while fighting this urge to let my secrets burn out through my chest and set me on fire for him to see. For him to extinguish, just like I wanted to with Tobie.
Corbin reaches across the car and touches my cheekbone again. “The one that makes you look so fucking sad…...”
“That secret is all mine. I’m still sorting out the truth from the lies that I tell myself just to stay alive.”

They were what each other needed in order to survive their life obstacles. In the end, they pulled each other through the TOUGH times that they faced and protected each other once the opened themselves up to love.

Playlist:
Truth About Us Playlist has an undertone of dance/techno music that I just noticed as I put together this list. I blame Tosh and his DJing. These songs were probably all played at the Bash. When I write I choose songs more based on the tone of the music, not the lyrics. I use music to get me into the mood I need to be in to best write a scene or chapter. For me music is about sound not words. Zed / Clarity Ellie Goulding / Burn Ed Sheeran / Give me Love Enrique Iglesias / Turn the Night Up Imagine Dragons / Demons Avicii / wake me up Calvin Harris / I need your love Krewella / Alive Ellie Goulding / Figure 8 Zed / Stay the Night Phillip Phillips / Home Lana Del Ray / Summertime Sadness
